an intimate, detailed account of a multitude of travels exploring a lesser known Japan, with an occasional foray into the popular. For over 15 years of living in Japan, I have visited over 40 of the country’s 47 prefectures multiple times discovering and traversing a path less travelled.

Hours spent personally researching, meticulously planning my own personal itineraries, working with various tourism boards and local communities, falling in love with the world of onsen, this website blog is for those who want to discover the real Japan, who want to travel the further flung, who appreciate a slower pace of travel, who love good food and who wish to experience the relaxing world of Japan’s onsen ryokan.  The adventures shared on this blog have all been personally experienced by me and are my own personal reflections.
