RINN KYOTO STATION

Again on another trip to Kyoto, I decided to extend to go off adventuring on some further meanderings, and because I knew I had to take the shinkansen the next morning - I was looking for a hotel close to Kyoto station (since normally I’m in the local areas)

Discovered hotels by the Rinn group which are lovely modern Japanese aparthotel styles & regular hotel rooms.

Lately I feel in Japan there’s a new type of hotel/aparthotel thats somewhere between a Japanese “business hotel” (which are great! so affordable! Like Super & Toyoko) and what is classified as a “traditional city hotel” (Prince, Hyatt etc) - so it falls kind of mid range cost, but nice modern spacious designs.

~6 MINS WALK TO KYOTO STATION

The location was perfect for me since I had to jump on the shinkansen the next morning and its great for people who want to catch buses to explore Kyoto, as the main bus terminal in Kyoto station is right there, so you can hop on to go see the many famous sights!

Rinn has other properties around Kyoto in various locations, so you have a wide range of options to choose from.

I believe they’ve also started to renovate some Machiya in Kyoto too, for a more luxurious stay. However I have yet to experience any of them! Maybe on my next Kyoto travels.

SUPERIOR KING ROOM

I always seem to do well with last minute bookings! (always a weeknight). This time around I stayed in the Superior King Room which can sleep up to ~4 people (great with the separate tatami area which can sleep 2 additional people)

However I also find that lately because I’m travelling a lot for work, I enjoy having a separate area to the bedroom where I can actually sit and do work, and have a slightly different environment to get into a working mindset.

The modern bathroom with its sweet squarish ofuro bath was a nice touch of looking out onto it’s own private tsuboniwa garden. If memory serves there’s also a little balcony, but the views are just the local neighborhood.

They only have 11 of the Superior King Room (which is the 2nd biggest sized room), the largest room being the Deluxe King Room (only 1 of them) and the rest of the rooms are regular classic twins & queens rooms. In total Rinn Kyoto Station has 31 rooms. If you miss out on this hotel, they also have Rinn Kyoto Station West and a plethora of others scattered around the city.
